AGRA: A cultural programme at Aligarh Muslim University turned into an evening of laughter and applause after an African student, Ayuba, delivered an entertaining speech in Hindi, leaving the audience thoroughly impressed. The event, held late on Tuesday at Nadeem Tareen Hall, saw Ayuba take centre stage with a unique act inspired by 3 Idiots. Mimicking the iconic character Chatur Ramalingam, he spoke in Romanised Hindi, recreating the comic style that has remained popular among students. Confident and energetic, Ayuba presented himself as a candidate for the post of secretary in a mock student union setting. His humorous “promises”, including installing multiple air conditioners and even building a swimming pool for students, had the audience in splits. “It’s very hot here, so I will give everyone an air conditioner… just make me the secretary,” he quipped, drawing loud cheers and laughter from those present. A video of the performance has since surfaced online and is gaining attention, with many praising the student’s effort to connect through language and humour. The lively act added a memorable highlight to the evening, showcasing the cultural diversity and vibrant student life at the university.
